BATES 2, MIDDLEBURY 1: Anna Cote of New Gloucester converted a penalty stroke early in the fourth quarter for the winning margin as the fifth-seeded Bobcats (12-5) stunned the six-time defending NCAA champion Panthers (15-2) in a New England Small College Athletic Conference semifinal, at Middlebury, Vermont.
Brooke Moloney-Kolenberg got the tying goal in the second quarter for the Bobcats, who advanced to their first NESCAC championship game. Bates will play Tufts at noon Sunday.
VERMONT STATE CASTLETON 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Emilee Higgins scored the tiebreaking goal with 4:40 remaining as the top-seeded Spartans (16-4) rallied past the fifth-seeded Huskies (7-14) in the Little East Conference semifinals, at Castleton, Vermont.
USM took the lead on a goal by Emma Samson in the first quarter and held it until Arianna Spiezio tied it with one second left in the third.
ROGER WILLIAMS 2, UNE 1: An overtime goal by Abigail Williams lifted the second-seeded Hawks (16-6) over the fourth-seeded Nor’easters (9-12) in the Conference of New England championship game, at Bristol, Rhode Island.
Shelly Tremblay scored for UNE in the second quarter, offsetting a goal by Maddy Monahan earlier in the quarter.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
USM 3, WESTERN CONNECTICUT: Catriona Gould scored in the third minute, Kiki Huntress and Cierra Hill added second-half goals, and the top-seeded University of Southern Maine won its third consecutive Little East Conference by shutting out Western Connecticut in Gorham.
USM (15-2-3) will find out its opponent in the NCAA Division III tournament when the field is announced at 2 p.m. Monday.
COLBY 3, WESLEYAN 2: Abigail Jarvi scored twice in the final 15 minutes to help the Mules (11-5-2) advance to their first New England Small College Athletic Conference championship game by upsetting the top-seeded Cardinals (13-1-3) in Middletown, Connecticut.
Madison Genser gave Colby a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute with a shot from the top of the box.
Jarvi made it 2-0 in the 76th minute, then scored on a breakaway in the 82nd minute after Wesleyan cut into its deficit two minutes earlier.
Colby, the No. 6 seed, will face fourth-seeded Amherst at noon Sunday.

MIDDLEBURY 1, BOWDOIN 0: Kyle Nilsson’s goal in the 36th minute gave the second-seeded Panthers (14-0-3) a win over the No. 8 Polar Bears (7-5-5) in a New England Small College Athletic Conference semifinal, at Middlebury, Vermont.
