Telstar Boys Soccer Playoff vs Temple
BETHEL — On October 30, the Telstar Boys High School Soccer team (11-2-1) team hosted Temple Academy (12-2) in a thrilling first-round playoff of 8-man South. Telstar recorded 5 shots in the first half with one finding the back of the net. Cyrus Mills linked up with Mason Perks just outside the PK spot and Mason slotted a nice low shot into the bottom corner. Temple had 11 shots in the first half. 6 were on target, with Telstar keeper Adam Stephenson making 6 saves, one required a great diving save shortly before halftime to keep the game 1-0 Telstar. Temple came out strong in the second half but matched the Rebels with 5 shots apiece in the 2nd half of a physical game. Temple’s Kiran Wrisher fired a great shot from distance to tie the game 4 minutes into the second half. Both teams played passionately for the last 25 minutes of regular time, with no one providing a winning goal. The teams headed for golden goal overtime with two 15-minute periods of play. The first 15 minutes of overtime saw the score stay tied at 1-1. Telstar’s Adam Stephenson made 3 saves in the first half of overtime with the rebels having 3 shots. Temple had 5 shots with their keeper making one save. The second half of overtime began with only one shot being recorded. Temple Academy got a corner kick with 8 minutes left. A great cross was played into Addison Frank, who put a header in the top right with the final score ending 2-1 Temple. Temple moves on to face Carrabec on Friday.
