Lawrence R. LaBrecque
LEWISTON – Lawrence R. LaBrecque, 74, a former resident of Jay, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, following multiple strokes and declining health over the past several years.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1950, in Farmington, the son of Lawrence J. LaBrecque and Rita D. (Therrien) LaBrecque. He was a 1968 graduate of Livermore Falls High School and attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Larry worked as a self-employed mason, building beautiful hearths and various works in brick and stone. He also worked at the Otis Mill in Jay and was a member of the Papermakers Union Local #11.
He was an avid skier and won several skiing awards in his younger years, including the Skimeister Award, and was employed with Ski Patrol throughout Maine. Larry loved sailing, campfires, and was a fan of Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Jimmy Buffet, and Roger Waters. Growing up, many of Larry’s days were spent at family gatherings, Spruce Mountain Ski Slope, and at his family’s camp at Round Pond. He loved traveling and “cruising” Maine roads for leisure.
In his later years, he would cruise the many beautiful counties of Maine and frequent local spots with his long-term partner, Cindy Bennett. Larry had many good years with Cindy, and they enjoyed their days in retirement among close neighboring friends, loved ones, and their dog Maddie.
He is survived by his daughter, Adelle LaBrecque of Juneau, Alaska, son, Cody Dunham of Biddeford, stepdaughter, LaTara Dunn of Farmington; brothers, Michael LaBrecque and wife Joyce of Livermore Falls, Peter LaBrecque and wife Rhonda of Straton, and Tim LaBrecque and wife Stephanie of Jay; also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; and long-time friend, Bob Daigle. He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, and partner, Cindy Bennett.
