AUBURN – Arlene Volock Bussiere, born on May 24, 1944, to Frank and Catherine Samocki Volock, passed away on October 5, 2024, at Bolster Heights Residential Care in Auburn, Maine.
Arlene graduated from Lewiston High School in 1962 and continued her education at Bliss Business School. In 1963, she married Donald Bussiere, and together they had two children, David and Lisa. Arlene held various jobs throughout her life that she enjoyed, but none gave her as much joy as being a mother. She was deeply involved in her children’s lives, serving as a carpool driver, chaperone, lunch aide, and room mom. She also worked in customer service for several insurance companies and as a phone representative for L.L. Bean, where she spoke fondly of her experiences.
Arlene was a dedicated polka instructor, music lover, yard sale enthusiast, and a devoted homemaker. After her marriage to Donald ended, she found happiness with Paul Phillips. Together, they spent nearly 20 years traveling and exploring new and familiar places. As time passed and health challenges arose, Arlene and Paul were separated by their families, and she spent her final months in Maine surrounded by friends and loved ones.
Arlene is survived by her significant other, Paul Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida; her daughter, Lisa Bussiere of South Portland; her son, David Bussiere of Portland; her former husband, Donald Bussiere of South Portland; her brother, Robert Volock, and his wife, Peggy, of Auburn; as well as several cousins and friends.
Condolences and fond memories of Arlene may be shared on her tribute page at www.albert-burpee.com
A remembrance ceremony will be held at a future date.
Arrangements are under the care of Albert & Burpee Funeral Home & Cremation Services 253 Pine St. Lewiston, 782-7201.
