HARRISON — Since November 24 is the week before Advent, A-J Alexander, Lay Pastor for Bolsters Mills UMC, will lead the morning worship by exploring “Thankfulness.” Her message will be based on many mission trips to San Felipe, Mexico, and how these trips have impacted her heart of thankfulness.
December 1 brings us to the first Sunday in Advent. The Advent Series is based on the book “Christmas isn’t Your Birthday” by Mike Slaughter. The first Sunday’s message is “Expect a Miracle” with Lay Pastor A-J Alexander leading the worship service.
On December 8, Certified Lay Speaker Wayne Alexander will be leading the worship service with the message entitled “Giving Up on Perfect.”
December 15 brings us to the Third Sunday in Advent where Lay Pastor A-J Alexander will lead the service entitled “Scandalous Love.”
On December 22, the worship leader will be worship team laity Mike Eaton, who will be exploring “Jesus’s wish List.”
On December 24 (Christmas Eve) at 7 p.m. will be the candlelight Christmas Eve Service. The message will be entitled “A Different Road,” led by Lay Pastor A-J Alexander.
All Sunday morning services are at 9 a.m. both in person and streaming on Facebook live. Live music is provided by “Land and See” with Lay Leader and Music Director Tony Landsperg and David Seeley. The morning service offers a delicious fellowship and social time directly after worship. The church is located at 664 Bolsters Mills Rd., Harrison. The church is accessible.
To help everyone get into the Christmas spirit, “Land and See” will be providing two Christmas Concerts, the first on Sunday, December 8 at 2 p.m. at the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church, and the second one at The Table on Sunday, December 15 at 2pm. There will be a love offering at both concerts to benefit the Table’s clothing ministry to buy socks and underwear. Feel free to bring new socks and underwear. Children’s and men’s are the most needed. Come and sing along with us. There will be refreshments following each concert.
On December 21 at 7 p.m. at The Table on 160 Main St. Norway will be a “Service of The Longest Night.” This service is also called the “Blue Christmas.” This service is held to honor those who are grieving the loss of a loved one or other losses. Tony Landsperg, a Certified Lay Servant, will lead the service with “Land and See” (Tony Landsperg and David Seeley) providing the music.
