BETHEL — The River Fund Maine has collaborated with Sunday River Resort to provide increased ski and snowboard access to hundreds of children and young adults in the region through the Community Access Pass Scholarship Program.
The program provided students whose families met income requirements with free daily access to Sunday River slopes. Through this partnership, more than 300 children and young adults residing in and attending schools within Maine School Administrative Districts 17 and 44 and Regional School Unit 10 received Community Access Ski Passes.
Sunday River funded the passes, while The River Fund Maine facilitated the scholarship application process and worked with Sunday River to distribute passes.
The Community Access program was expanded to include the availability of ski or snowboarding equipment. This year, 60 recipients of the passes will receive season-long ski or snowboard rentals, in addition to their season pass.
