“Pikkujoulu”
WEST PARIS — The Finnish American Heritage Society of Maine will be devoting our December meeting to a “Pikkujoulu” celebration. All are welcome to join us at 8 Maple Street in West Paris from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 15 for a Finnish Christmas celebration filled with warmth, community, and cherished traditions. Indulge in festive treats, and stock up on freshly baked Finnish goods. Kids (age 8 and up) can create their very own Finnish Christmas ornaments. Afterward, join us at the Finnish cemetery on Pioneer Street to light candles in remembrance of our ancestors.
Concert
BETHEL — The Mollyockett Chorus, renowned a cappella singers, will be performing a Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 14, at 2 p.m., at the Bethel United Methodist Church, located on Main Street in Bethel. The Mollockett Chorus, based in Norway, was organized in 1996 and is a chapter of Harmony Inc., an international women’s barbershop organization. Under the direction of Simon Smith of Bethel, the chorus will sing a variety of Holiday Songs, in the barbershop style.
Choral members from Bethel are Janet Coverdale, Janet Willie, Debbie Luxton, and Merry Childs, with other members from the various towns in the Lake Region area. Women who love to sing are always welcome at chorus rehearsals, which take place on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., downstairs in the concert hall of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Norway. Admission for this concert will be donations at the door, which will be gratefully accepted. Feztival of Trees
LOCKE’S MILLS — Jackson-Silver Post 68, on the Gore Road, in Lockes Mills will co-host Kora Shrine’s 5th Annual Feztival of Trees from Friday, December 13, through Sunday, December 15. It is a cash-only event. An estimated 25 fully decorated trees will be raffled off at about noon on Sunday. Each tree is loaded with useful products, toys, gift cards, or store/restaurant coupons. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for photos, and on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m., Mrs.Claus will conduct storytime.
