FRYEBURG — A man suspected of dealing firearms illegally and being in the country without proper documentation was arrested Thursday morning after a traffic stop on Main Street, according to Fryeburg police.
Marcos A. Silva, 23, of Brazil was taken into custody on a federal warrant without incident at 6:39 a.m., according to a statement from Police Chief Aaron J. Mick.
The department collaborated with representatives from two federal agencies and state police on the arrest.
“The operation targeted an individual alleged to have been illegally dealing in firearms and residing in the United States without proper documentation,” Mick’s statement said.
No other details on the suspect were offered.
Silva is in federal custody and was to be transported to federal court in Portland, according to the statement.
