DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society hopes you’ll join us for our Holiday Open House at 55 Strawberry Ave. in Lewiston on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be holiday music, yummy treats, and shopping for gifts. It’s going to be a party!

Not only will we have Morgan’s Munchies, Daisy Loo Designs, and Wilder Pawz onsite, we’ll also be offering ornaments painted by GAHS’s pets and lots of shelter swag. These ornaments make a unique gift for a pet lover in your life or a fun addition to your own holiday tree!

Raffles and a bake sale will raise much appreciated funds to support the work we do. Volunteers have been planning their delicious treats, and generous community members have donated gifts that anyone will be happy to win!

Just like excited children, our pets will delight seeing gifts placed under our tree for them! They understand practicality — they won’t shake their noses at donations of bleach, paper towels and other essential items. Of course things like soft treats, catnip and new toys will certainly get those tails wagging!

And don’t forget — we’ll have lots of great pets looking to make their match. If you’re not ready to adopt, consider applying to participate in our “Let It Snow” Holiday Foster Program that will be happening later this month.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The SHAREcenter will hold another Indoor Yard Sale at 1830 Lisbon St. in Lewiston on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition, the Green for ME store will also be open for the same hours as the sale. Nonmembers and the community are welcome to visit the shop and the yard sale. This is a great opportunity to get some holiday shopping done at great prices and support our organization.
