Reiley Hedden made nine 3-pointers to score 27 points and Telstar beat Buckfield, 80-71, in a boys’ basketball season opener on Saturday in Bethel.
Connor Deprey finished with 18 points on six 3-pointers and Brady Morgan finished with 12 points For Telstar.
Trenton Haskell also had 27 points for Buckfield and Krosby Harvey finished with 21 points. Nolan Litchfield and Gaven Parsons chipped in with 10 points.
HALL-DALE 57, LISBON 41: Keegan Cary and Karter Eldridge led the Bulldogs to a road win over the Greyhounds in Lisbon.
Cary put up game-high 21 points, including 5-of-5 shooting at the free-throw line, and Eldridge finished with 14 points. Josias Brown added eight points for Hall-Dale (1-0).
Brandon Long topped Lisbon (0-1) with nine points, while Braiden Edens had seven and Owen Hurd and Nolan Parker scored six apiece.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 50, HALL-DALE 46: Alaina Kachnovich scored 22 points for the Phoenix in a win over the Bulldogs at Farmingdale.
Maddie Grimaldi added nine points.
Sierra Gibbons scored 13 points for Hall-Dale. Torie Tibbetts finished with 12.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 56, LISBON 14: Ali Mazza had 20 points to lead the Falcons (2-0) past the Greyhounds (0-1) in Lisbon.
Alyvia Theriault and Madison Dow each added nine points for Mountain Valley
Kasie Booker had five points for Lisbon.
MARANACOOK 43, OAK HILL 29: Celia Bergdahl scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Black Bears (2-0) to a win over the Raiders (0-2) in Wales.
Alice Ferran scored five points and had 12 rebounds for Maranacook, while Gracie Farrell added six points.
Breanna McElhaney led Oak Hill with eight points.
MONMOUTH ACADEMY 36, WINTHROP 30: Kaitlyn Frost scored 12 points as the Mustangs (1-1) beat the Ramblers (1-1) in Monmouth.
Maeve Burgess grabbed nine rebounds for Monmouth.
Ella Rice scored eight points to lead Winthrop.
BUCKFIELD 47, TELSTAR 18: Sara Devoe scored 17 points as the Bucks (2-0) beat the Rebels (1-1) in Dixfield.
Alyssa Breton contributed nine points for Buckfield.
Viv Charette scored nine points for Telstar.
BOYS HOCKEY
MESSALONSKEE 6, LEWISTON 3: Owen Kirk recorded a hat trick and also had an assist for the Eagles (1-0) in a win over the Blue Devils (0-1) at The Colisee.
Logan Baron and Alec Beckwith scored power-play goals and Denny Martin had an empty-netter. Tatum Doucette assisted on two goals, and Nathan Kirk made 17 saves.
Cam Plourde scored twice for Lewiston, the defending Class A champion. Coleman Mercier was the other goal scorer. Lewiston goalie Will Routhier stopped 16 shots.
LEAVITT 4, GORHAM 2: Brody Emond scored twice for Leavitt/GNG/Poland/Oak Hill (2-0) in a win over Gorham (0-1) at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.
Breck Langevin and Koen Fairbanks also scored for the Kings.
Stephen Connolly and Levi Wagner potted goals for Gorham.
ST. DOMINIC 7, FRYEBURG/LAKE REGION/OXFORD HILLS 1: Spencer Morgan had a hat trick and an assist in the Saints’ victory over the Ice Cats at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.
Ben Dumais contributed a goal and an assist for St. Dom’s. Brody Walling, Deano Scalia, and Curis Wheeler all found the back of the net, and Finley Cavers and Riley Daigle each had two helpers.
Gunner Truman scored the lone Fryeburg Academy/Lake Region/Oxford Hills goal.
Saints goalie Ashton Additon made 16 saves, and Charlie Herrick stopped 36 shots for the Ice Cats.
GIRLS HOCKEY
PORTLAND 7, ST. DOMINIC 4: Marina Bassett scored six goals and eclipsed the 100-career goal mark for her career as Portland/Cape Elizabeth/Deering/South Portland/Waynflete (3-1) handled St. Dom’s/Lisbon (1-2) at Norway Savings Bank Arena in Auburn.
Bassett also assisted Haley Field on the other goal for the Portland co-op. Field and Jane Flynn each had a pair of assists.
Chloe Beauchesne, Julia Quagliaroli, Avianna D’Auteuil and Emily Andrews scored for St. Dom’s.
