AUBURN — The Mitch Thomas and Friends — Holiday in Lights concert is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Auburn United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.

The free concert will feature several Maine musicians presenting a variety of traditional and original Christmas and other holiday songs. Proceeds from a free-will offering will go toward the church’s mission to support asylum seekers in Lewiston-Auburn.

Thomas plans to play piano and sing several favorite holiday pieces, and Caroline Young Coffin and others singers will join him on vocals. Returning musicians include Scott Powers on bass, Neil James on guitar, Jon Whitmore at the organ, and drummer Daniel Mills of Lewiston.

Several local children will also perform this year. Included will be “Club Ikirezi”, a group of Burundian youth performing cultural dances. They will join other children singing with the band on some of the songs.

The 90-minute concert will feature arrangements of traditional and popular holiday favorites, including Thomas’s original “Light a Candle for Peace.” The doors open at 2:30 p.m.; the venue is accessible.
