FAYETTE — The holiday spirit was alive and well on Dec. 13 at Fayette Central School, where families gathered for an evening of Christmas cheer. Organized by Fayette School and Home, the event featured a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, crafts, holiday treats, and the school’s annual tree lighting ceremony.

Santa and Mrs. Claus, dressed in their festive best, welcomed children for photos, chats, and candy. Many youngsters dressed up for their special moment with the Clauses, adding to the festive atmosphere. A shy child was gently encouraged to meet Santa, eventually posing for a cherished photo. Another child was in shock that Santa knew his name.

The school gymnasium buzzed with activity. Children visited craft stations with markers and coloring sheets, and some gleefully slid around the gym on four-wheeled seats while holding onto hula hoops. A cookie-decorating station, overseen by adults including Elaine Wilcox offered stacks of sugar cookies, frosting, and colorful decorations for families to enjoy.

Treats such as cocoa, cookies, and popcorn were offered, fueling the fun. Parents and children participated side by side in decorating cookies, crafting, and playing games, fostering a sense of togetherness and community. The children seemed to enjoy the cookie decorating the most. Several children said they wanted to give their cookies to Santa.

The evening concluded outdoors under the crisp, clear night sky. Families bundled up for the tree lighting ceremony and sang Christmas songs.
