
Barbara L. Patterson
BETHEL – Barbara L Patterson, 91, of Bethel passed away peacefully on Dec. 14 2024. Barbara was born Feb. 9 1933, in Rumford to Ernest and Marion Bean Billings and was one of six children and grew up in Milton, graduating from Stevens High School.
Barbara married M. Wayne Patterson in 1955.
Throughout her early adulthood, Barbara was a stay at home mom, working part time at Hanover Dowel, Ecko Wood Products and Stewart’s Canning Factory before her long term employment at Rumford Paper Mill, She retired in 2003.
Barbara’s joy in life was her grandchildren. She enjoyed having overnights, attending their sports games and celebrating their accomplishments.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Marlene Bryant of Auburn, son-in-law Bruce Bryant of Rumford; grandchildren Lanette Bryant and Jonathan Mackenzie of Lewiston, Larissa Bryant and Alex Eye of Gray and Logan Bryant of Harpswell; as well as her sister Lola Crockett of Bethel. She also had many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband M. Wayne Patterson (1987); son Larry Patterson (1986); and siblings Ernest Billings, Florence Wing, Eunice Gagne and Harvey Billings.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 20, 2024 at 12 p.m. at the Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris, with a time of visitation 1 hour prior from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Spring interment will be in Abbotts Mills Cemetery, South Rumford.
