This unusually colored poinsettia was purchased Dec. 14 at Hannaford Supermarket in Jay. According to the source https://a-z-animals.com/blog/poinsettias-colors-from-rarest-to-most-common/, red is the most common color of poinsettias while orange is the rarest. Unique new colors such as the one above are the result of crossbreeding the traditional poinsettia species Euphorbia pulcherrima with other plants from the Euphorbia genus, the site noted.
