Caroline Labrie, center, of Auburn and Cathy Levesque of Sabattus chat Monday with Tim Griffin of Auburn as the volunteers prepare for Christmas at the Trinity Jubilee Center in Lewiston. Volunteers sorted children’s toys, holiday treats and cooked a Christmas meal that will be handed out to those in need on Christmas Eve. “We have been preparing for this all week,” said kitchen manager Cassandra Culleton. “For a lot of people that come here, this is the only Christmas they have,” Culleton said. Labrie and Levesque are members of the Grace Community Church, which has been helping out at Trinity for more than ten years, said Labrie. Boilard said that more than 100 children in need will benefit from donated toys from businesses and community members. The gifts will be delivered by volunteers to “as many people that we can check off the list as possible.” Boilard said that Kaydenz Kitchen will provide another $500 worth of toys to fulfill the wish lists that he has received. About 70 people have been taking advantage of the warming center each night, said Boilard. “We are going to have a huge meal on Christmas day,” he said. Daryn Slover/Sun Journal
