Vasilios Maniatakos
FARMINGTON – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vasilios Maniatakos, who left us on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025. Vasilios was a beloved member of the community, known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
Born and raised in Farmington, Vasilios lived a life full of love and dedication. He was well known in the community and lovingly nicknamed “Tako.” Vasilios graduated from Mount Blue High School in 2008, where he played as an offensive lineman for the varsity football team. His enthusiasm for football was evident both on and off the field, and he was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Vasilios furthered his education at Wyotech, where he received a degree in Automotive Technology.
Vasilios loved his family dearly and enjoyed all things outdoors, including snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, and riding ATVs. He was known for his kind, funny, and loving personality, always full of sarcasm and teasing. For the past 15 years, he was employed at Farmington House of Pizza, where he helped his mother, Roula, run the store.
Vasilios is survived by his devastated mother, Roula Maniatakos of Farmington; his sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Brian LaCroix of Clinton; his niece Stavroula and her husband, Justin Taylor, and their son Theodore of New Portland; his nephew, Zaharias Menoudarakos of Clinton; his uncle and his wife, George and Voula Maniatakos of Fairfield; his cousin and his wife, Dimitri and Monica Maniatakos, and their children Evelina, Athina, and his godson Leonidas of Bowdoinham; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends here and in Greece. He is also survived by his trusty four-legged companion, Sarge.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dimitri and Vasiliki Maniatakos; his uncle, Petro Maniatakos; and his godfather, Stelio of Greece.
There are no words to express how grateful the family is to everyone who has helped, reached out, and assisted during this difficult time, especially his co-workers at Farmington House of Pizza who have stood by Roula’s side through it all.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Sunday, Jan. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Rd., where Father Paul Dumais will conduct prayers at 3 p.m.. A graveside funeral service will be held in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Farmington. Honored to be caring for the family of Vasilios Maniatakos is Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.
Vasilios’s legacy of love, compassion, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Franklin County Animal Shelter, a cause close to Vasilios’s heart.
