Julien Bilodeau
CLERMONT, Fla. – Julien Bilodeau passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 4, 2025 at the age of 88.
Son to Maurice and Jeanne Bilodeau. Julien “Jules” graduated in 1954 from St. Dom’s in Lewiston. He married Pauline Desjardins in 1960, and raised four children in a little brick house in Auburn. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. After retiring, Jules and Pauline split their time, living in Florida during the winter months and returning to Maine for the spring, summer and fall.
Jules was a numbers guy and a people person. He was a skilled and sought after accountant, appreciated for his honest and patient personality. He enjoyed the social aspect of his work and was well known in the Twin Cities; often being greeted with a “hey Jules!” wherever he went.
He worked as an accountant at Marcel Motors, Central Maine Power and kept books for numerous small businesses in the Lewiston/Auburn area, including the Webber Ave Club.
As a notary (and a romantic), Julien performed many marriage ceremonies; sometimes in the family backyard. Pauline would assist by making bouquets for the bride.
Julien and Pauline were active members of Sacred Heart Church. He was Head of Lay Ministers and Sacred Heart’s accountant. Julien served in the Army and Army Reserves for five years.
He was devoted to his family. Friday nights were spent at his mother and sister’s house, chatting over coffee and donuts with his siblings and whoever else could pop in. He loved the traditional Bilodeau Christmas and New Year’s parties, baked bean suppers and family events with the extended Bilodeau family.
He was a supportive and fun loving father. His children have been guided by his example in how he treated people with respect, kindness and generosity. He cherished all the people in his life, but his greatest love was his wife, Pauline. Jules (affectionately called “Bill”) and Pauline were inseparable; holding hands and enjoying time together at their favorite spots: their camp in Sumner, visiting Maine and Florida beaches, admiring the gardens in their outdoor rockers or out and about listening to local music.
Julien is survived by his four children, Michael and Mary Bilodeau, Phil Bilodeau and Deb Arthur, Dana Bilodeau and wife Judy, Louise Bilodeau and Michael Bomser; seven grandchildren, David, Brian, Jay, Samantha, Julie, Ella and Cecily; great-grandchildren, Claire and Charlie; goddaughter, Denise Soucy; sister-in-law, Laurette Bilodeau; and many dear nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Jeanne Bilodeau; siblings, Yolande and Norm, Roy, Gerald Bilodeau, Giselle and Roland Durocher and Claudette Bilodeau; his beloved wife, Pauline; in-laws Etienne and Yvonne Desjardins, Albert and Cheryl Desjardins, Leo and Lilliette Desjardins, and Leona Desjardins.
A service will be held for Julien and Pauline on May 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston. Arrangements by The Fortin and Pinette Group, Lewiston.
