A program of improvised music by jessyandamy is planned for the Oasis of Music beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Trinity Commons in Lewiston.
Amy Curtis, an Oasis favorite who plays ukelele and sings, is joined by Jessy Kendall for this event. According to Amy, “jessyandamy is a vocal electronic improv duo with Jessy Kendall and Amy Stacey Curtis based in Lewiston.
All music they perform is made up on the spot, sometimes incorporating spontaneous, alternating original poetry. Meanwhile, they record all of their practices in Jessy’s studio, putting the “most-interesting-to-us results” in album form. Some of the results can be heard at jessyandamy.bandcamp.com.
The Oasis of Music is a weekly music series of performances of roughly thirty minutes, running from September to May. Admission is free, with donations accepted. The musical genres vary greatly, in largely, but not exclusively, acoustic formats. Trinity Commons is located at 247 Bates St., Lewiston. For more information, call 207-344-3106.
