Christopher Reeves bundles up Thursday on Park Street in Lewiston. He says he was living with his mother until she became ill and had to go into the hospital. Since then, he has been living outdoors. “It’s been kind of cold out,” Reeves says. Despite the challenges he faces, Reeves says people have been looking out for him. “They’ve been showering me with gifts, trying to cover me up,” he says, adding that they tell him: “We’re gonna keep you warm. Don’t you worry.” Temperatures are expected to plummet next week, with lows near zero. The city has no official warming shelters open during the daytime. The warming shelter on Lincoln Street operates from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Andree Kehn/Sun Journal
