100 Years Ago:1925

The Jay Pastime Club observed Gentlemen’s Night Jan. 14th in the New Grange building. There are 25 members in the club and every member was present with a gentleman. Principal Dennison and sub-master Blanchard also were guests. So just fifty were present. This included the pastor, Rev. H. H. Hathaway and wife, she, having been made an honorary member at the last regular meeting. The ladies having the affair in charge accomplished wonders.

50 Years Ago: 1995

The Lewiston Housing Authority Wednesday night began the task of overseeing the completion of the Hillview Project’s final details after accepting the last three phases of its first low-income family housing units.

Both LHA Chairman Gerald Martel and Commissioner Lionel Raymond stressed the importance of living up to the promise made to Lewiston Building Inspector Charles Buteau obligating the LHA to finish small scale construction and repair, “punch list” items, by January 31.

25 Years Ago: 2000

Congregation Beth Abraham in Auburn will be host this weekend to the first regional Kadimah Shabbaton for the State of Maine.

On Friday afternoon a bus with 44 convention delegates will leave Randolph, Mass. The delegates, from synagogues at Randolph, Milton, Natick, Framingham, Peabody and Newton will join additional delegates from Temple Beth 1 at Portland and will come, as one group, to Auburn’s Congregation Beth Abraham.
