NORWAY — The Select Board voted unanimously Thursday evening to join the Maine Service Centers Coalition, a group that lobbies and advocates for service centers.
Service centers are identified by the level of retail sales, the jobs-to-workers ratio, the amount of federally assisted housing and the volume of service sector jobs, according to a state task force report by the Maine State Planning Office.
Norway is considered one of the state’s 20 secondary service centers, interim Town Manager Jeffrey Campbell said.
Yearly dues would cost $786 and allow Norway to join municipalities represented by the coalition.
In other business at their meeting at the Town Office, selectmen approved the special amusement permit for 290 Main Street for four concerts between May and September. The business has held similar events in the past with no issues, Campbell said.
The exact dates have not been set.
