LEWISTON — Swimmers from Lewiston High School joined rival Edward Little’s cooperative team that also includes Leavitt and Poland this winter, but that didn’t eliminate the annual Lesley Martin and Chris Campbell Memorial Swim Meet between the Blue Devils and the Red Eddies.

The Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland/Lewiston co-op and swimmers from the four schools it trains with under coach Scott Morrison — Hebron, Lisbon, Oak Hill and St. Dom’s — divided into “Edward Little” and “Lewiston” teams and held an abbreviated mixed mock meet Wednesday at the Lewiston YWCA.

The two teams competed in seven events. Because the meet was an exhibition, it does not count in the MPA results.

Lewiston’s Gabby Roy received the Lesley Martin Award and Edward Little’s Jack Martel was given the Chris Campbell Award. Martin was a Lewiston swimmer who died in a car accident shortly after graduating in 2001, and Campbell was a senior captain of the Edward Little swim team when he died six months later.

Roy placed first in the mixed 50-yard butterfly and was part of two relay wins, the mixed 200 medley with Cameron Lemieux, Sebastian Pambo, Matthew Tabet, and the mixed 200 freestyle relay with Matthew Dupee, Klara Cloutier and Lemieux.

Martel placed second in the mixed 50 backstroke and third in the mixed 100 individual medley.

Other winners included Leavitt’s Chase Leonardo (mixed 100 IM and mixed 50 breaststroke), Dupee (mixed 50 freestyle) of Oak Hill, and Lemieux (mixed 50 backstroke), who attends Poland Regional High School. (Complete results below.)

The teams known as Lewiston won both team competitions, the girls by a 13.5 to 13 score and the boys 28.5 to 25.
