Jace Bessey’s 24 points paced the Spruce Mountain boys basketball team to a 54-42 win over Madison on Friday in Madison.

Bessey also had seven steals. Cai Dougher added 14 points for the Phoenix (13-3), while Dylan Jewett chipped in nine.

The Bulldogs (7-7) were led by Ethan Linkletter with 10 points and Brayden Furbush and Silas Haynie with seven apiece.

MT. BLUE 41, LAWRENCE 37: Nolan Leso scored 12 points as the Cougars won in Fairfield.

Carter Norton added 10 points and Evan Drake had nine for Mt. Blue (10-5).

Cole Quirion led the Bulldogs with 17 points.

PORTLAND 47, LEWISTON 31: Loic Ramazani scored 11 points, Lucas LeGage added 10, and the Bulldogs (7-8) rode their defense to a Class AA North win over the Blue Devils (7-7) at the Portland Expo.

Adam Zeininger paced Lewiston with 13 points.

RANGELEY 68, NORTH HAVEN 38: Three players scored 13 points apiece to lead Lakers (3-10) past the Hawks (0-12) in North Haven.

Brayden Thompson, Sam Morrill and Kaysyn Woike were Rangeley’s 13-point scorers. Further balancing the offensive attack, Braden Alexander, Dakota Lemoine and Keegan O’Neil each contributed six points.

North Haven’s Caden Cabot scored a game-high 15 points, and Ezra Davisson finished with 14 points.

EDWARD LITTLE 55, OXFORD HILLS 42: The Red Eddies (9-6) earned their third straight win by beating the Vikings (7-8) in Auburn.

Diing Maiwen led Edward Little with a game-high 16 points, including 7-of-8 shooting at the free-throw line. Akol Maiwen (7 of 11 on foul shots) added 15 points and Cedric Makelele contributed 12 points.

Brayden Murch scored 14 points for Oxford Hills, while Eli LaVerdiere and Cam Pulkkinen each had eight points.

TELSTAR 70, RICHMOND 60: The Rebels (9-4) pulled away from the Bobcats (7-6) in the second half of the Class D South matchup in Bethel.

Telstar’s Cooper Morgan scored a game-high 19 points, and Connor Deprey (three 3-pointers) and Jonathan Marshall added 13 points apiece.

Zander Steele was Richmond’s top scorer with 17 points. Jake Gay finished with 15 and David Edward had 13.

MT. ABRAM 70, MARANACOOK 55: Brennan Mitchell scored 24 points to lead the Roadrunners to a victory over the Black Bears in Readfield.

Mt. Abram improves to 15-1.

Jack Fontaine led Maranacook (8-7) with 30 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

PORTLAND 42, LEWISTON 29: Baleria Yugu scored eight of her 14 points in the first half as the Bulldogs (4-11) built a 13-point lead en route to a win over the Blue Devils (2-12) in Portland.

Lawino Bendasta chipped in 10 points for Portland.

Bailey Toderico scored 12 points for Lewiston.

RICHMOND 42, TELSTAR 20: Darby Flanagan scored 18 points, and the Bobcats (8-6) beat the Rebels (1-12) in Telstar.

Olivia Mason added 11 points and Ella Brand had 10 for Richmond.

Cady Campbell, Viv Charette, Addy Kimball and Hayley Smith each scored four points for Telstar.

BOYS HOCKEY

KENTS HILL 4, ST. DOMINIC 2: Milan Angyalfi stopped 32 shots in the Huskies’ (6-5) victory over the Saints (6-7) in Readfield.

Alex Wang, Nathan Roy, Cam Collicott and Tyler Fontaine all scored in the win. Alex Gadbois had a team-high two assists.

Deano Scalia had a goal and an assist for St. Dom’s, and Ben Dumais also scored.

Nolan Cavers made 24 saves in the loss.
