A group of District 7780 Rotarians from eight clubs met Feb. 1 on Saco Avenue in Old Orchard Beach to load a shipping container full of mobility devices for Crutches4Africa, to be sent to South Africa.
The district has now collected, loaded and shipped 14 containers full of both used and new mobility devices to countries in need in Africa and beyond. These devices — including crutches, walkers, rollators, canes, braces, medical boots and shoes, knee walkers and wheelchairs — can have a profound impact on the daily lives of people with a variety of conditions, including those with congenital conditions, those who have been injured, the elderly, and polio survivors, according to a news release from the district’s Patty Rice.
To donate mobility devices, contact Rotarian Dave Preble at 207-743-7836 or [email protected].
