BETHEL — The Maine Mineral & Gem Museum has joined Museums for All, a signature access program from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Administered by the Association of Children’s Museums, this initiative aims to make museums more accessible to individuals and families from all backgrounds, promoting regular museum visits and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts and sciences.
Through this program, those receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits get discounted admission at the museum. SNAP recipients pay just $3 per person (for adults and seniors) and $2 for students from middle school through college. Each SNAP cardholder can bring up to three additional guests at the same reduced rate.
To take advantage of this offer, visitors must present a valid SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer card along with a photo ID, according to a news release from Maggie Kroenke with the mineral and gem museum.
Museums for All is part of the museum’s broader commitment to inclusivity, ensuring the museum experience is available to all. The program expands access to cultural and educational experiences, and raises awareness of how museums across the U.S. are serving their communities.
