AUBURN — The 100+Women Who Care Androscoggin held its fifth fundraising meeting Feb. 3 at Central Maine Community College. The membership voted to support Safe Voices with its donations. The checks, totaling $6,810, were delivered to Safe Voices Feb. 21.
Because of this donation, the program is also eligible for a 50% matching grant from the Richard M. Schulze Foundation, bringing the donation total to $10,215, according to a news release from Marty McIntyre with the women’s group.
Safe Voices aims to provide person-to-person, individualized advocacy for all survivors of domestic abuse and violence, sex trafficking, and sexual exploitation in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties and engage the communities in social change to eliminate violence. Its services include a 24-hour helpline, individual advocacy, shelter for victims of domestic violence and sex trafficking, court advocacy and a certified domestic violence intervention program to work with abusers to understand and change their behavior.
