Several parents of children in attendance at Holy Family School in Lewiston have banded together to voice their opinion against the parish council move to close the school.

Though the council will not make a final decision until March 9 as to whether or not they will again lease the school building to the city next year, the council Sunday night did vote not to renew the present lease with the city.

The Androscoggin River, which once brought life to the industries of the Twin Cities, will soon regain its status as an asset to Lewiston and Auburn.

At least that’s the hope of Auburn’s director of community services, Roland Miller.

On Thursday night, Miller made a presentation to members of the community and the Auburn City Council on the Riverwalk project.

The Riverwalk project involves the beautification and creation of a walking path along the edge of the Androscoggin River, including the area behind the Roak Block up to Bonney Park. The path then loops around on the Lewiston side.

“We need to rethink our views of the river,” said Miller. “This project really is a celebration of our city.”
