Eloise Poland
LEWISTON – Eloise Poland, 69, of Lewiston and formerly of Turner, passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at St. Mary’s D’Youville Pavilion, surrounded by her loving family. She fought many years of illness with strength.
Eloise was born on July 9, 1955, in Lewiston, the daughter of Henry and Arlene (French) Poland. She graduated from Leavitt High School in Turner in 1973, where she was an active member of the Future Homemakers of America and the school newspaper.
For many years, Eloise worked as a jewelry department associate at Ames and as an office associate at Marden’s. She found joy in spending time with her family, friends and her hobbies such as card games, crafts, word searches, and crossword puzzles. Eloise had a deep love for the ocean and Pleasant Pond in Turner where she created many treasured memories.
She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Poland and her significant other, Curtis Coachman of Auburn and Marcia Poland of Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Chantel Poland, Jeremiah Poland, Jada Poland, Benjmain Poland, Trinity Teague, Destiny Teague and Xavier Teague; one great-grandchild Willa Hopkins.
She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Ellen Poland Shaw; Dan Poland and his wife, Linda; Charles Poland and his wife, Brenda; Lucy Dawes; Wesley Poland and his wife, Belinda; Muriel Poland and her significant other, John Wathen: Douglas Poland and his significant other, Kim Collins; Anna Bragdon and her significant other, Mike Caron; and Heidi Daigle, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Arlene Poland, and her infant brother, Roger Poland.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Andwell Health Partners and D’Youville Pavilion for their compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Boofy Quimby Hall, 96 Howes Corner Road, Turner, Maine, at 12 p.m. All are welcome to share memories and celebrate Eloise’s life.
