The Maine House of Representatives just doubled-down on the failed practice of lawfare by censuring Rep. Laurel Libby, R-Auburn.
The House leader, Ryan Fecteau, allowed this party-line censure vote to take place on the floor in Augusta. He obviously has not read the writing on the wall.
Lawfare against a political opponent only served to bolster the stature of that political opponent in the 2024 national elections. And by strong-arming the legislative body against Laurel Libby, it will only serve to bring more supporters under her commonsense tent, and to raise more political capital in support for her just causes.
Laurel Libby has made a stand for the female student athletes of our great state of Maine. And now Democrat leaders, who want boys to compete against and beat girls at sports, have simply elevated Libby to hero status. The attacks against her integrity will backfire, as recent history has taught us.
Our state is on a new path. Lawfare is defunct. The righteous ideals of respect for our female athletes are on the highway to victory.
And Laurel Libby will rise above this unwarranted attack, only to be stronger, more recognized, and more favored than ever before.
