DEAR SUN SPOTS: We have been trying to find someone to work with a young girl to help her improve her softball pitching skills. She will be 11 years old this summer.
It has been difficult to find anyone and we are hoping you can help. There seems to be plenty of people and places offering help for boys pitching but few for girls.
We did contact two individuals we saw online but neither of them has responded yet.
We thought that perhaps a softball coach or a softball player at Bates College might be willing to help, but we have been unsuccessful in contacting anyone there.
Can you help us find someone at Bates College or is there anyone else willing to help this young lady? We will pay the going rate.
Please call Curt at 375-7187 if you are interested or know of someone who is. — Louise, no town
ANSWER: I know someone at Bowdoin College and have reached out to her and will let you know as soon as I hear from her. Meanwhile, if readers know of someone, please contact Curt or let me know.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m a volunteer with Rebuilding Together Lewiston/Auburn and I’m asking that readers help us with finding homes to renovate this year. The nonprofit organization is supported entirely by contributions of time, labor, material and money. We are dedicated to repairing the homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age, and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves. Skilled and unskilled volunteers alongside able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner.
The work is conducted on one weekend per year. This year, Rebuilding Day is May 10. We will be accepting house applications until March 31. Applications can be found on our website at: www.rebuildingtogetherla.org. You can also contact us at [email protected] and request one to be sent via mail.
Skilled and unskilled volunteers are also needed. If you would like to volunteer, please contact us at the email address above, or call 333-7449. — Shanna, Lewiston
ANSWER: Whether you need repairs to your home or want to volunteer, please sign up this as soon as possible so the organizers of this effort can plan and move forward.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I read your column every day and hope you can help us get the word out for our upcoming celebration.
Please save the date for the Lisbon High School Class of 1965’s 60th Reunion. The event will be held at the Lisbon Left Hand Club on Old County Road on Saturday, July 26. A social hour will begin at 1 p.m. with a meal to follow. We’ll send out more information in the near future. — No name, no town
ANSWER: Congratulations! Of course, I’ll help you keep the news flowing regarding this special day. You can count on me.
