We are being pitted against one another over a hot-button issue that keeps us distracted from the power and money grab taking place under our very noses.
The Trump administration has weaponized the issue of trans girls in sports to threaten to override congressional power of the purse by withholding taxpayer money already allocated via legislative process.
Should we have a conversation about the point of sports and how to make them fun, safe and inclusive? Of course.
But we can’t stop there. Our founding fathers wrote checks and balances into our Constitution for a reason. Instead of getting distracted by divisive rhetoric, we need to recognize the underlying threats to our democracy and work to uphold the rule of law.
