PERU — United Baptist Church of Peru has called Alan Tacheny as its new pastor. With the retirement of the previous pastor, Shepard Swain, the church had been searching for a replacement for the past year.
After prayerful consideration, Tacheny submitted his name for consideration. After a review by the search committee, he was presented to the congregation as a fully qualified candidate to fill the role of pastor for the church. The congregation overwhelmingly accepted the committee’s recommendation and approved his calling as the new pastor, according to a news release from Andrew Goodwin with the church.
Tacheny has been a member of church for 14 years and an elder of the church for 10 years. He has filled numerous roles and responsibilities for the congregation. As an elder, he has been leading services and preaching Sunday mornings on a regular basis, sharing these duties with fellow elder Andy Bean, according to a news release from Andrew Goodwin with the church.
Tacheny lives in Carthage with his wife Carrie, who leads the music ministry for the church.
