Tickets to see Emmy-winning comedian, TV host, film actor and author Jon Stewart perform at Merrill Auditorium on June 21 sold out in three hours on Friday.
Ranging from $55-$95, the tickets went on sale at noon via PortTix and were sold out shortly before 3 p.m.
Stewart, the longtime host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” from 1998 to 2005, returned to the show in 2024 as its Monday night host. He created “The Problem with Jon Stewart,” which ran for two seasons on Apple TV+ in 2021.
Stewart’s brand of political humor and satire has earned him 23 Emmy Awards, two Grammys, and five Peabody Awards. He received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2022.
He has also been an outspoken advocate on behalf of health benefits for 9/11 first responders and veterans. In 2019, he received the New York City Bronze Medallion for his “tireless advocacy, inspiration, and leadership (helping to) pass the permanent authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act,” which included testifying before Congress. He also advocated for the passage of the Honoring our PACT Act of 2022, which expands health care access and funding to veterans exposed to toxic substances during their service.
The minimum age requirement to attend the performance is 16. Phones, smart watches and other smart accessories will be prohibited and attendees will be required to use lockable pouches to keep them from accessing their phones.
