BETHEL — With 17 seniors out of 43 receiving a 3.3 or higher grade point average, Telstar High School Class of 2025, has recorded it’s highest number of Latin Scholars ever, according to Principal John Eliot, who added there were just eight last year.
“This is an impressive feat for the Class of 2025, as it represents the most seniors recognized under the Latin Honors system since THS switched from the traditional Top 10 recognition.” The change occurred several years ago, before Kenney’s former tenure as principal.
“This class has been very academically competitive and driven since they entered as ninth graders. There is a lot to be proud of and celebrate here!” said Maine School Administrative District-44 Superintendent of Schools, Mark Kenney.
Telstar students come from Bethel, and the surrounding towns of: Andover, Woodstock, Newry, Gilead and Greenwood.
The seventeen students who have achieved either Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude status are: Valedictorian Ella Akers; Salutatorian Gabrielle Thompson; Third Honors Kayan DeGruttola; Ella Hopps; Lily Souther; Jocelyn Nivus; Kylie Friel, Rylee Cooper; Hayley Smith; Hunter Winslow; Emma Newell, Katherine Devaney; Wylie Williamson, Brody Morgan Katalina Hart; Timothy Wakefield and Grady Kellogg.
