President Donald Trump backtracked on an order to require new Maine parents to visit Social Security Administration offices to register their children, rather than use a check-off measure on hospital forms available in all other states.
Now, the bloviating president has axed $15 million in federal funding for energy efficiency and clean energy programs in Maine. And, he has reneged on tens of millions of dollars to the state university system for agricultural research over the refusal of state officials to kowtow to his insistence that they discriminate — in violation of state law and federal Title IX regulations — against a handful of trans individuals.
This is not a president who represents all Americans. It’s a petulant child. Sen. Susan Collins should not tolerate this any longer.
