BETHEL —  Beginning April 4, Bethel area patrons may vote for their favorite cocktail or mocktail in a competition called “Pourfection.”

The Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce  Marketing and Events Coordinator Tara Poole is organizing the contest that is between several local bars and cafes. Millbrook Tavern at the Bethel Resort and Suites; Gemini Bakery;  Modern Barn; Steam Mill Brewing; and Mountain Social Kitchen & Bar have all signed on.

So far “fruity” seems to be the theme with Sunday River Brewing and Chosun both entering fruit-flavored mojitos. Mountain Social’s “That’s My Jam” includes blueberry jam as an ingredient. Contest sponsor, Millbrook Tavern will be concocting a “Blood Orange” and a “Blueberry Basil Mojito or try a “Pink Flamingo” at Modern Barn. Check the Chamber’s website for updates.

By April 15, patrons will vote on the signature beverage they like best. The establishment with the most votes will take home a trophy, “along with a year’s worth of bragging rights. But don’t get too comfortable –the winner will have to defend their title next year,” said Poole, who added, “This exciting cocktail and mocktail competition was designed to showcase the incredible talent of our local restaurants, cafés, bars, and bakeries.”
