LISBON — Voters on Tuesday passed an amended ordinance referendum allowing the town to use bond money left over from the Ferry Road reconstruction project and apply it toward current road needs.
The special election referendum passed by a margin of 239-82. Less than 5% of the town’s 6,526 registered voters went to the polls Tuesday.
In 2021, voters approved a $2.8 million bond to finance the reconstruction of a section of Ferry Road. The work scheduled has been completed, leaving approximately $470,000 unspent from the bond.
Town Manager Glenn Michalowski said Thursday he has been meeting with the Public Works Director to develop a plan to determine on which potential road projects to spend the leftover funds.
All of the funds must be obligated by the end of May, Michalowski said.
