Robert “Bob” F.. Veilleux
FREEPORT – Robert “Bob” F. Veilleux passed away on April 10, 2025, at his home surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was 81 years of age.
Bob was born in Lewiston on March 9, 1944, the son of Pierre Albert and Dora (Barcelou) Veilleux.
Bob had a passion for all types of vehicles. He started driving at age 16 for Peck’s Department Store, with their delivery van. During his life he was also the neighborhood milk man, a tour bus driver and long-haul trucker. He was a member of Teamsters Local Union No. 340, retiring from Yellow Freight. He also enjoyed his International Cub Tractor, loader backhoe, and 1930 Model A Pickup.
His second passion was being out on Casco Bay. His first boat was a 6’ plywood flat bottom skiff at age 5. He became a lobsterman, Captain/owner of a commercial fishing boat, earned his 100-ton license, and then captained the Chebeague Island Ferry. He was always available to take friends (old or new) fishing or to explore the beauty of the bay.
Bob had an amazing life. Close friends and loved ones were treated to many stories of his adventures.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce E. Clarkson, Claudia the cat, and many cousins.
