OXFORD — Voters will have five candidates to chose from to fill two Board of Selectmen positions at next month’s annual town meeting.
Sharon Jackson, who was first elected to the board in 2019, is running for another three-year term.
Her counterpart, Caldwell Jackson, is retiring from his seat, which expires in June. He has served several terms over the last 30 years, between 1993-2002, from 2004-2006 and most recently since 2017 and included a stint as board chair. He is currently in his second term as State Representative for Maine House District 80.
Three residents have filed nomination applications with Oxford to run for one of the two open seats, Ernest Fitz IV, Scott Ward, Phil Richardson and Caldwell T. Jackson (nephew of the retiring Caldwell).
Oxford Town Clerk Kathleen Dillingham confirmed the five candidates April 23, adding that she is coordinating a candidates’ night forum for residents to learn more about the four challengers and their positions on community issues.
Although the location and date have not been finalized, it will take place at either the Station House Recreation Center or Town Office in early May.
Two of Oxford’s four school board director seats are also expiring and the current representatives, husband and wife Shauna Broyer and Nathan Broyer, have both confirmed they are running for reelection. There are no challengers.
Shauna Broyer was first elected to Maine School Administrative District 17’s School Board three years ago; Nathan Broyer was elected elected as a write-in candidate in 2022, taking a seat vacated by an interim appointee.
And Tom Kenneson, the incumbant, is the lone candidate on the ballot for Oxford’s Water District.
