WINTHROP — Trent Collin allowed one hit in five innings while striking out eight as the Winthrop baseball team defeated Boothbay 10-0 in the season opener for both teams Wednesday.

Braden Branagan had a double and two singles for Winthrop (1-0), while Brody Adams also had three hits. Brady Shuman had a double. Will Grant had two RBIs.

Sam Markowitz had the Seahawks’ lone hit.

Liam Jacobs started the game for Boothbay (0-1), going three innings, allowing three runs on four hits and four strikeouts. He walked five.

 

EDWARD LITTLE 11, CAMDEN HILLS 1: Chase Scammon allowed one unearned run on one hit with five strikeouts as the Red Eddies won a five-inning opener at Auburn.

Freshman Max Nelson hit a two-run triple, and Isaac Jalbert singled and had three RBI. TJ Kramarz scored three times, and Ben DuBois and Blake Chamberlain scored twice each.

Walker Hedrich had Camden Hills’ hit in the fifth inning. Starter Tucker Whitley went 2 1/3 innings and had three strikeouts, allowing seven runs.

 

LISBON 7, MADISON 3: Cody Osmond nearly went the distance in the Greyhounds’ win in Lisbon.

Osmond struck out 13 batters in 6 2/3 innings for Lisbon (1-0) while walking two.

Braden Decator had two hits and three RBI to lead Lisbon’s offense.

Josh Prosser had a single and a RBI while Bobby Vieve had a triple and a single for Madison (0-1).

Bulldogs pitcher John Horton pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing three runs, walking seven and striking out 10.

 

MARANACOOK 4, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Noah Longfellow and Alex Spaulding combined on a four-hitter as the Black Bears won a season opener in Readfield.

Longfellow struck out seven and allowed just three hits and one walk through six innings. Spaulding struck out the side in the seventh.

Maranacook took the lead with two runs in the second inning, on a sacrifice fly by Grant Walton and an RBI single by Austin Tibbetts.

MT. ABRAM 22, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3: Kaiden Longley drove in five runs as the Roadrunners won a five-inning season opener in Salem Township.

Logan Dube had two hits and three RBI, Bryce Wilcox contributed three hits and two RBI, and Ash Rollins also drove in two runs. Killian Pillsbury doubled and drove in a run.

Eli Moffatt and Evan Hamilton got Spruce Mountain’s hits.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 20, WINTHROP/MARANACOOK 7: Kyanah Wing drove in four runs in the Falcons’ victory in Readfield.

Wing had two hits, including a double, for Mountain Valley (1-0).

Ali Mazza and Madisyn McLean each collected two RBIs and three hits. Both had a triple in the win. Addison Libby and Maddy Brown each doubled.

Libby pitched six innings, striking out six on nine hits and three walks.

Ella Rice homered for Maranacook/Winthrop (0-1) and drove in three runs. Kyleigh Pinkham and Cyara Harriman each had two hits.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 14, ST. DOMINIC 13: Natasha Godfrey drove home three runs and had two singles as the Panthers (2-0) defeated the Saints (0-1) in Yarmouth.

Jordan Nash had a double among her three hits and two RBI. Sadie Morgan added a double and two singles with an RBI for NYA.

Emily Andrews had four hits for St. Dom’s, with a triple and five RBI. Ella Dick and Sophia Franciose added two runs each.

 

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 24, MT. ABRAM 2 (4 INNINGS): Mallory Clark notched three hits, including a double, and drove in four runs as the Phoenix won their opener at Salem Township.

Rylee Turner had a hit and also drove in four runs. Aubrey Mitchell and Samantha Martin added two RBI apiece.

Turner allowed no hits in three innings, struck out six, allowed one run and walked two. Santika Hodgkin pitched one inning in relief, allowing one run and walking two.

Caitlyn Doucette and Arianna Poulin scored for Mt. Abram, which didn’t have a hit.

 

LISBON 20, MADISON 5: Mackenzie Eaton doubled and tripled and recorded four RBI in the Greyhounds’ season-opening, four-inning win over the Bulldogs in Madison.

Melanie Simmons and Brynn Chase each doubled. Chase had two RBI and Simmons had one. Aubriana Bright added three singles and three RBI and Molly Chase also drove in three runs.

Kenadi Berry had a double and an RBI for Madison. Izzabella Stonick, Emma Anton, Jaelyn Rich and Audrey Woods also drove in a run.
