The Newry town sign on Sunday River Road. Rose Lincoln/Bethel Citizen

NEWRY — Newry Town Manager Loretta Powers gave the select board this news: “The Town’s total [municipal] budget is $2,278,274. The School Budget is $4,462,010. The County budget is 1,478,539.

“You add all those wonderful things together and we are at $8,219,031.”

Powers noted that they are hoping for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds of $518,000. Additionally, $200,000 has been moved from undesignated funds to help offset taxes.

The budget includes one-third of payment for tri- county transfer station scales.

The Board – Mandy Berry, Tink Conkwright and outgoing chair, Gary Wight – approved.  Powers will now finalize the warrant in time for Town Meeting on May 13.
