Gray-New Gloucester pulled ahead with a seven-run fourth inning and ended the contest via the mercy rule with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, wrapping up an 11-1 baseball victory over visiting Poland on Thursday.

Cole Thibodeau and Jacob Mulry each doubled and finished with three hits for Gray-New Gloucester (2-2). Thibodeau also scored two runs and drove in two. Kobi Conant also had two RBI, and Griffin Richmond tripled, knocked in a run and scored twice.

Patriots pitcher Kaiden Chase held Poland (2-3) to three hits while striking out five.

Aiden Bean had two of the Knights’ hits, and Shawn West drove in Bean with an RBI single in the third inning.

TELSTAR 8, BUCKFIELD 1: Brody Walker allowed only one hit over five innings, and the Rebels (1-2) took control with a four-run fourth against the Bucks (1-2) in Buckfield.

Walker struck out seven and walked one. Brennan Walker followed with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts.

Bryson Walker led Telstar’s offense with two hits, including a triple, and scored a run after reaching base on one of Buckfield’s seven errors.

Bucks pitcher Gabe White struck out eight batters in five innings on the mound.

GIRLS LACROSSE

WAYNFLETE 18, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/POLAND 6: Lydia Birknes scored five goals, Casey Curtis and Skylar Harris each added four, and the Flyers (3-0) handled the 26ers (0-3) in Portland.

Lauren McNutt-Girouard chipped in three goals, while Fallon Culley, Lucia Infantine and Talia Melnick also scored for Waynflete.

Hailey Carson led the 26ers with three goals. Amelia Foster had two and Emma MacMahon got one.

SOFTBALL

BUCKFIELD 15, TELSTAR/GOULD 0: Carmen Crockett combined with Lillian Tifft to throw a three-inning no-hitter in the Bucks’ (2-1) victory over the Rebels (1-2) in Buckfield.

Crockett pitched the first two innings and struck out all six batters she faced. Tifft then pitched a hitless third inning.

Crockett also excelled at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI. Brittany Carrier homered and drove in two runs for Buckfield, while Cora Brewster had three RBI, and Chloee Bennett went 3 for 3 with two runs, two RBI and four stolen bases.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 9, POLAND 8: The Patriots stymied the Knights’ seventh-inning rally by throwing out the potential tying run at the plate on a delayed steal to end the game in Gray.

Poland entered the final inning trailing 9-4 but plated four runs.

Madalyn Patrick had Gray-New Gloucester’s only hit, and she drove in two runs and scored two. The Patriots (3-2) drew eight walks and took advantage of five Poland (1-4) errors.

Olivia Rioux led the Knights’ offense with two hits and three RBI. Carly-Ann Jarvis also had a pair of hits.
