To the Editor:

As a result of our annual roadside clean-up on Saturday, May 3, Otisfield’s roads are now minus a television, roofing shingles, a metal Christmas tree, auto parts, cans, bottles, and lots of trash. We had about 40 enthusiastic, hardworking volunteers, young and not so young. Our clean-up day is sponsored by the Otisfield Conservation Committee and supported by our Town Selectboard.

Thank you, members of the Conservation Committee, for all your work on our clean-up day. I would also like to thank the Otisfield Social Outreach Committee (Community Lunch Group), who fed us a great lunch after we finished the clean-up. We greatly appreciated your hospitality. Thank you, Garry Dyer and Jim Howard for doing the heavy lifting. We appreciate all your work picking up the tires, car parts, and heavy trash bags. Our town looks wonderful!

We hope that all townspeople remember that both the Otisfield Transfer Station and Casco Bulky Waste have helpful and welcoming staff, and that is where our trash is meant to end up, not on the side of our roads or in our beautiful streams, brooks, ponds, and lakes.
