DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society at 55 Strawberry Ave. in Lewiston will host a Kitten Shower on Saturday, May 31, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This promises to be such a fun day with raffles, a bake sale, bottle drive and a photo booth.

You’ll have the opportunity to donate items from our wish list, learn about volunteering, and get information about fostering pets.

If you can’t make it to this event, but would like to donate, you can do that by accessing our website at https://gahumane.org/give/general-donations/ and simply clicking on the amount you’d like to give. These donations help to keep the facility running and the staff paid. Did you know GAHS cares for over 3,500 pets a year?

Other options to help include sponsoring an animal or donating items on one of our wish lists (https://gahumane.org/give/wish-list/). We really appreciate your help! — No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: Who can resist a Kitten Shower? I urge you to check out this amazing organization where you’ll find caring people who love animals and give their all. Teens, if you are at least 15 years old, think about volunteering this summer!

I want to add that the 23rd annual GAHS golf tournament is coming up June 12.

Whether you’re a seasoned golfer, know just enough lingo to get by, or are a total newbie, this tournament promises to be a fun day — all while supporting a great cause of helping animals in need throughout the community.

Register as a team or sign up solo — GAHS will match you with other players so you can meet new friends on the course. Enjoy raffles, golf challenges, and more, all set against the beautiful backdrop of Martindale Country Club at 527 Beech Hill Road in Auburn.

For more information or to register, visit: https://gahumane.org/golftournament/ .

New sponsors are still welcome too. Check out the sponsorship opportunities and donate using the secure web form at the web address above. Connect with Donna Richey at [email protected] if you have questions.

For all these opportunities, check out the website (https://gahumane.org/), or you can send a note by writing to i[email protected] , or call 783-2311. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Readers, while I’m thinking of it, if you know of other organizations that welcome teenage volunteers, please share the info!
