AUBURN — The Mount Auburn Apartments site at 138 Mount Auburn Ave. is a hub of construction activity as workers make significant progress in replacing the second building that was destroyed by fire last September.

The elevator shaft is clearly visible in the center of the building as the structure takes shape. It will mirror the first building, which will see a few tenants move in starting next week. There will be 102 market-rate apartments altogether, all one-bedroom and two-bedroom units with upgraded amenities in each one.

Each apartment features stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, in-unit washer and dryer, a balcony and walk-in closets. A spokesman for the property management division of A.R. Building, the developer, confirmed Wednesday that plans for the complex still include a 24/7 fitness center, and a swimming pool for next summer.

Lease rates range from $1,895 for a one-bedroom up to $2,340 for a two-bedroom/two-bath unit. The complex is pet friendly.

No completion estimate for the building under construction was available, but it will likely be in the fall.

A.R. Building Co., which is based in Pennsylvania, is also planning a 160-unit community between Stetson and River roads, which received approval from the city in March.
