Festival

WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris will hold its annual Rhubarb Festival and White Elephant Sale on Saturday, June 7, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church, 208 Main Street in W. Paris. The Rhubarb Festival is one of the church’s traditional events, which features everything rhubarb, including homemade rhubarb and strawberry rhubarb pies, cakes, cookies, fresh rhubarb, and more, and all prepared by church members and friends for this important annual fundraiser. Supper

NAPLES — The Edes Falls Sewing Circle Bean Supper of the year will be held at the Edes Falls Community Hall in Naples on Saturday, May 31. Seatings are at 4 and 5 p.m. Two types of beans, chop suey, coleslaw, the famous pink stuff, homemade pies, and more! $12/adults and $4/children.

Food Truck Nights

PARIS — To help celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Paris Public Library’s home, the library’s Centennial Fundraising Committee is sponsoring Food Truck Fridays in the library’s and Paris Town Office’s parking lot on June 13, July 11, and August 8. From 5 to 8 p.m., participants will be able to purchase food to enjoy from a variety of food trucks and listen to live music provided by local musicians. Among the food trucks planning to participate, but not limited to, are Buffalo Hill, Shut Up and Eat It, Steve’s Catering, Flatbread Fiesta, and Dave’s BBQ. Musical artists include Camden Colby in June, AGE in July, and Slightly Polished in August. The neighboring Deering Memorial Community Center will supply cover for all in case of rain.

Sale

PARIS — The Paris Public Library is hosting a used book sale downstairs at the Deering Memorial Community Center on Saturday, May 31, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The sale will feature thousands of titles in good to excellent condition, covering a broad range of interests and ages. There will also be DVDs and some music CDs for sale. Shoppers are just asked to make a donation of their choice for the items they select from the sale. Proceeds from the sale are used to purchase children’s books for the library’s collection. The Deering Memorial Community Center is located at 39 Main Street in Paris, across Church Street from the Paris Public Library. Candidates

HARRISON — Harrison Village Library will present Meet the Candidates on Monday, June 2, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Ronald St. John Community Center at the Harrison Food Bank. Candidates for Harrison’s Select Board and Planning Board will be on hand for this moderated event. The Friends of Harrison Village Library will hold their annual Book, Bake, and Plant Sale on Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.. All proceeds benefit the Friends, who support library services such as the movie license and museum passes. Donations of gently used books and labeled plants will be accepted at the library beginning Monday, June 2. For more information about either event, please contact the library at 583-2970.
