DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you have overgrown plants or too many of one variety in your yard? Then divide them, dig them up, and bring them to swap for something else on Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Woman’s Literary Union Foss Mansion, at 19 Elm St. in Auburn.
We will also have free, gently used children’s books available for your kiddos to bring home. WLU members will be present to help your child pick out books. There is no admission fee. Come join us! For more information, contact me at 402-7591. — Kathy, Auburn
ANSWER: The Woman’s Literary Union has many lovely, wholesome events and activities and I love that several include creating good times for children.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would you please publish a list of people who mow lawns in the Lewiston area again? I do remember a Todd Duval but lost the column with his phone number and another list would be very helpful to have for all of us who tuck things in a “safe place” that is never to be found again. — No name, no town
ANSWER: Last I knew, Todd Duval has a business where smaller lawns and landscaping is his niche. References are available on request. His contact information is [email protected] , 440-4833.
I don’t have a solid list of lawn care contractors because sometimes not everyone does it year after year. Many could be teens or college students who may mow lawns for a summer or two then move on to some other line of work or move out of the neighborhood.
I suggest you contact SeniorsPlus (https://seniorsplus.org/all-services/community-services/ ) and ask if they have community resources available for this service. Perhaps they could put you in touch with someone in your neighborhood who can help you out with lawn care and more. Their number is 795-4010.
Landscaping companies are also a good bet. However, they tend to be more expensive than someone who is a sole proprietor.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to get the word out about a fabulous nonprofit I support, Wilderness Miracles on Lisbon Road in Bowdoin (near Rocky Ridge Apple Orchard).
Their mission is taking care of injured, orphaned, and sick wildlife to return a healthy animal back to the wild. Animals include foxes, chipmunks, squirrels, opossums, raccoons, porcupines, and more.
You can sponsor a wild animal in their care, volunteer, or donate items like cleaning supplies, medical supplies and medication, nutrition supplies, and soft toys and items that can be used for bedding. The full wish list: https://www.wildernessmiracles.org/wishlist.
For more information, call 720-0074 or email [email protected].
ANSWER: I have brought items over there and have been impressed with the work being done there to save animals then get them back to their natural habitat. On the website, there are also great visuals to show folks who have found injured or sick birds and animals how to proceed with helping them.
Wilderness Miracles is staffed by caring, committed people, all doing good work for our community.
