Barry Michael Beganny
EAST FALMOUTH, Mass. – Barry Michael Beganny, 78, of East Falmouth, Mass., passed away on May 31, 2025 at Falmouth Hospital after a months-long illness.
Barry was born on Oct. 11, 1946 in Lisbon Falls, Maine, the son of Andrew and Elizabeth (Tobie) Beganny. Barry graduated from Lisbon Falls High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with High Distinction at the University of Maine in 1968 at age 21.
Barry went on to a successful 30-year career at IBM before retiring at 51. In retirement, he became a real estate agent on Cape Cod, Mass. Barry and Marjorie (Cohen) were married in Hawaii on Sept. 19, 2000, and they were married for the next 25 years. Barry enjoyed life on Cape Cod, golfing, enjoying the beach, reading, and going on long walks with Margie and his dog Frankie.
Barry is survived by his wife, Marjorie Beganny of East Falmouth, Mass.; his two sons, Michael Beganny and his wife Stacey (Thibodeau) of Amherst, Mass., and Andrew Beganny and his wife Laura (Conn) of Penfield, NY; his grandchildren Colin Beganny of Amherst, Mass., Ava Beganny, of Amherst, Mass., Jack Beganny, of Penfield, NY, Brady Beganny, of Penfield, NY, and Katie Beganny, of Penfield, NY; his sisters, Andrea (Beganny) and her husband Woody Antman, of Amherst, NY, and Joyce (Beganny) Lamphere, of Lisbon Falls, Maine; his stepsons Randy Cohen of Philadelphia, Pa. and Steven Cohen of Norwell, Mass., along with their families; and Barry’s beloved dog, Frankie.
Barry was preceded in death by his first wife, Roberta “Bobbie” (O’Grady) Beganny in 1997 as well, as his parents.
Services for Barry will be private.
