LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen voted June 3 to start their meetings at 6 p.m. effective July 1.

“I think it would be easier for folks who work in the office to start a half-hour earlier, at six o’clock instead of 6:30,” Selectman Ernest Souther said.

Souther also suggested moving the meetings to Wednesday or Thursday. “That way it’s near the end of their workweek, and any new information that comes in can be presented later in the week,” he said. “As it is now, if there is a Monday holiday, which there seems to be quite a few of them, they come in and the first day back to work there’s a meeting. They may not be fully prepared for it.”

Chairman William Kenniston said he has other commitments on Thursday and couldn’t meet then.

July 1 was chosen for the change to give more time for notification.

Town Clerk Doris Austin asked if Mt. Blue Community Access TV would be able to livestream the meetings at 6 and was told it shouldn’t be a problem.

Office closures

Selectmen approved closing the Town Office at 2 p.m. June 24 for voting from 2-6 p.m. to reconsider budget articles that did not pass at the April 29 town meeting, and at noon June 30 to allow staff time to work on fiscal year-end tasks.

Town Manager Carrie Castonguay recognized Kim Collins for the “cute fuzzy animals” displayed on the tables in front selectmen. Collins donated 10 of them for the department of public safety to use when children are in crisis, she added.
