PARIS — Steve Cronce and Robert Ripley finished atop a seven-person field to capture seats on the Paris Select Board.

They succeed retiring Selectmen Christopher Summers and Peter Kilgore who served on the board for several years. Summers, the code enforcement officer for the town, served as chairman for at least two years.

Cronce and Ripley took first and second with 234 and 229 votes, respectively.

In third place was Ronald Ramsey III with 130 votes, followed by James Labbe with 85, Patricia O’Brien with 79, Tara O’Leary with 55 and Roland Hebert with 47.

Cronce works for the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department. Hearing from residents who are struggling to pay their bills, Cronce said Paris does not have the tax base of the neighbor towns and the board must properly manage the budget and prevent overspending to lower taxes.

Ripley, the brother of Maine School Administrative District 17 Chairman Troy Ripley, has lived in town since 1985 and is the director of maintenance at KBS Builders. Ripley pledged to look at everything, but not blow things up. He said he wants to make sure taxpayer money is spent wisely.

In the Maine School Administrative District 17 election, Jennifer Russell won reelection, defeating Nancy Drew, 280-146.
